The purpose of this research is to investigate the effects of group art therapy programs on novice counselor¡¯s self-reflection and self-esteem. The subjects were 12 graduate students at counseling graduate school in G state who had less than 2 years of counseling experiences. Those subjects were divided into two groups: 6 of experimental group and 6 of control group. The research period was from March 6 to May 8, 2019 and was implemented once a week in total of 10 times and it was 90 minutes in each session. The self-reflection scale and self-esteem scale were used as research methods and pre & post tests were implemented. For data analysis, we used Wilcoxon¡¯s Signed Ranks Test which was a nonparametric testing and we examined the sessional and phased contents. The research result was the following. The research result were the following. Firstly, there was a positive effect of group art therapy programs on improvement of novice counselors¡¯ self-reflection. Secondly, there was a positive effect of group art therapy on novice counselor¡¯s self-esteem. Thirdly, in the phased and sessional contents, the group members showed changes of self-disclosure, verbal expressions, emotion control, positive self- reflection and work. Therefore, it was possible to observe the positive effects of group art therapy programs on novice counselors¡¯ self-reflection and self-esteem and it could be a significance as it was an empirical data which could be used in versatile areas of counseling psychology.
